CONSTITUTION:The solid solution carbide layer expressed by (HfxTay)C is so formed as to become thickness 1-20mu on a substrate of high-speed steel, super hard alloy, etc. Here, x+y=1, y=0.4-0.6. The abovementioned coated layer is desirably formed by a CVD method, but it is also possible to use other PVD method, molten salt method, etc.
