Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve long life, by increasing the wear resistance of a recording or reproducing element for a video disc and the like and the adhesive strength to diamond, by forming an electrode of a reproducing stylus with boride of a transition metal such as Ti. CONSTITUTION:The electrode of a reproducing stylus 1 is formed with an invading type boride such as TiB2 in which B is combined with a transition metal such as Ti, V, Zr, Nb, Hf, Ta, Y, Mo and W. For example, the electrode 6 is formed on a diamond stylus 1 with chemical vapor deposition methods of three gases of TiCl4, BCl3 and H2 or a physical vapor deposition method such as ion plating. The said boride has greater adhesive force to diamond, no peeling is caused and the hardness is high, allowing to obtain the reproducing stylus 1 with greater wear resistance and durability and acid and alkali resistance.
