Abstract

PURPOSE:To seal a liquid crystal completely without the degradation of the liquid crystal, by forming flexible polymer film substrates with injection entrance parts projected and sealing injection entrance parts by ultrasonic welding after injection of the liquid crystal and covering the whole of sealed part with an organic adhesive. CONSTITUTION:A sealing agent (a resin hardened by ultraviolet rays or a thermosetting resin) 2 is applied to one of two substrates 1 and 3 which are provided with flexible polymer film substrates where transparent electrodes are formed, and the other substrate is superposed onto this substrate, and the sealing agent is hardened. The part of an injection entrance 4 is trimmed into a projecting shape 6. Next, after a liquid crystal substance 5 is injected in a vacuum system, an ultrasonic horn is applied to the projecting part 6 and is melt-fixed as shown in 7 in figure. The whole of the sealed part is covered with an organic adhesive 8 such as an epoxy adhesive and an urethane adhesive. Thus, substrates are sealed completely without the degradation of the liquid crystal substance due to heat and the adhesive, and a liquid crystal display device which is stable in respect to dampproof property and is stable thermally and chemically is obtained.
