Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a polyolefin having a constant MW at a constant production rate, by installing a computer in the production equipment according to a specified manner in the production of a polyolefin using a Ziegler-Natta catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Propylene 10, hydrogen 11 as a MW modifier, solvent 15, Ziegler- Natta catalyst 12, etc., are fed into a polymerization vessel F and polymerized while the temperature in the vessel F is controlled by, for example, circulating cooling water through a jacketI. The quantity of heat generated in the vessel F is detected by the temperature, flow rate, etc., of the cooling water, and the signals are inputted into a computer A. Further, the hydrogen concentration in the vapor phase and, if necessary, the slurry concentration, etc., are detected and inputted into the computer A. Then, valves for supplying catalyst 12, hydrogen 11, solvent 15 and propylene 10 to the vessel F are operated by means of control operation output of the computer A in reply to changes in the quantities of inputted signals.
