Abstract
PURPOSE:To transmit the temperature of the high temperature outlet side of a battery pile to the low temperature inlet side thereof and to improve the uniformity in temperature distribution of the battery pile, by burrying a number of that pipes in the cooling plate additionally serving as a gas separating plate and interposed in several positions in the battery pile at a regular interval while being arranged in the flow direction of cooling air. CONSTITUTION:A battery pile S can be formed by laminating lots of unit cells 11 and lots of gas-separating plates 14 made of carbon; and a cooling plate 15 which also serves as a gas-separating plate made of carbon is interposed between each cell. Said unit cell 11 is composed of negative gas electrodes and an electrolyte holding matrix which is interposed between said negative gas electrodes, and on the both surfaces of the unit cell 11 there is a hydrogen feeding groove 12 and a reaction air feeding groove 13, and the gas separating plate 14 made of carbon is formed so that the directions of said groove 12 and groove 13 are crossed each other. A heat pipe 18 is burried in a partition wall 17 between the air-flow grooves 16 of the cooling plate 15, and the heat- exchange is conducted among the air flow in the flowing groove 16, the temperature of a high temperature side can be promptly transmitted to the low temperature inlet side through the heat pipe 18.
