Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the easy production of an intended broad metallic strip possible by forming a nozzle for supplying molten metal into a specific shape in the stage of producing the thin-walled broad metallic strip by supplying the molten metal onto cooling surfaces which revolve at a high speed thereby cooling the same quickly. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal 3 in a vessel 2 is supplied as molten metal flow 6 through a nozzle 4 into between twin rolls 1 and 1' which revolve at a high speed, whereby it is quickly cooled and a broad metallic strip 5 is produced continuously. In this case, the outlet section of the nozzle 4 is made into a slender rectangular shape or an elliptical shape, and tapers expanded to the outer side in the longitudinal direction toward the outlet of the nozzle are provided to the inside surfaces of the long end parts 7, 7 in the longitudinal direction of the outlet section. Further tapers of which the spacing between both inner side surfaces narrows gradually toward the nozzle outlet are provided on both the inside side surfaces which face each other along the longitudinal direction of the oulet section of the nozzle. Since the molten metal out through the nozzle 4 maintains a flat shape without contraction in its shape, the broad metallic strip is easily obtained.
