Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize a wide deflection band by mounting two mutually independent transducers to one acoustooptic medium, and constituting these in such a way that the diffraction by acoustic waves take places longitudinally within the same plane with respect to the same ray. CONSTITUTION:Transducers 2 and 2' having respectively independent electrodes are mounted on an acoustooptic medium 1 on a sound absorbing material 3 by assuming an angle alpha. The angle alpha is so set that the diffraction by the acoustic waves produced from the transducers 2, 2' takes place longitudinally by satisfying Bragg conditions within the same plane (the plane parallel to the plane of the figure inclusive of incident light) with respect to the lightI00 made incident to the medium 1. If the frequencies and central frequencies of the transducers 2, 2' are defined as f1, f2 and f01, f02 respectively, these are f2-f02= 2(f01-f1), and the diffraction band width of the transducer 2' is expanded twice the diffraction band width of the transducer 2, whereby the wide deflection band is realized.
