Abstract
1381912 Surface wave filters STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 30 March 1972 15068/72 Heading H3U An acoustic surface wave filter having an input transducer 1, with interdigitated electrodes, and a first output transducer 3, is provided with a linked multi-strip coupler 6 which couples part of the input signal to a second output transducer 4. Transducers 3 and 4 have different pass bands both within the passband of transducer 1, for example they may respectively pass sound and video T.V. signals. Waves emitted by transducer 1 away from coupler 6 are absorbed, or alternatively the transducer is made unidirectional by including additional couplers. The propagating medium is piezoelectric material, which may be supported by a non-piezo-electric material. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the input transducer emits waves in both directions and further couplers are provided to separate out more than two passbands.
