Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a raw material of solvent, etc., in high yield, by using a formic acid ester, especially the ester obtained as a by-product of the autoxidation of an aldehyde as a raw material, and subjecting to vapor-phase catalytic reaction at a specific temperature in the presence of a metallic nickel catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A carbonyl compound of formula II (R1 is H, 1W10C alkyl or alkenyl; R2 is 1W10C alkyl, alkeyl, 6W12C aryl or aralkyl), e.g. aldehyde or ketone, is obtained by the vapor-phase catalytic reaction of a formic acid ester of formulaIat 200W450°C in the presence of a catalyst composed of metallic nickel or metallic nickel and aluminum oxide. The feeding rate of the formic acid ester is 0.5W3kg/Cat.kg.hr. The main active component of the above catalyst is metallic nickel, and the ratio of nickel to aluminum oxide is ≥1/20. The presence of water in the reaction system improves the life of the catalyst and the selectivity of the reaction.
USE: Raw material of perfumes, pharmaceuticals, dyes, pesticides, etc.
