Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent spark discharge upon distributing an ignition voltage by a method wherein a means, supplying the ignition voltage generated in an ignition coil to a spark plug by the electronic opening and closing operations based on an photoconductive element, is provided in a photoelectric distributor. CONSTITUTION:The beams of a light source lamp 34 are reflected by a reflection board 10 and are rotated together with the rotation of a distributor shaft 8, whereby the photoconductive elements 18 arranged on the inner peripheral surface of a distributor cap 4 are irradiated sequentially. The electric resistance of the photoconductive element 18 receiving the irradiation of the beams becomes extremely lower than the same of the photoconductive element 18 which is not receiving the irradiation of the beams, therefore, the ignition voltage supplied from the ignition coil to a common electrode 24 is supplied to a distributing electrode 30 through only the photoconductive element 18 which received the irradiation, thereby discharging the spark plug. When the resistance value of the photoconductive element 18 which received the irradiation of the beams is less than 10kOMEGA, the distribution of the ignition voltage is possible.
