Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve focusing detection accurately all the time by detecting the integral time of a photodetection output and then controlling the reference level of a photodetecting element by comparing the integral time with a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:The photoelectric converting circuits 17A-1-17A-n, and 17B-1- 17B-n of photodetectors 3A and 3B input a charge signal from a CPU5 to control the integration of a photoelectric output, and respective pieces of integral picture-element information are supplied to sample holding circuits 18A-1-18A- n, and 18B-1-18B-n selectivey in parallel and then supplied to the comparators 19-1-19-n of a signal processing circuit 4. For the purpose, an elapsed time from the start of the integration of the photoelectric output until the photoelectric output of at least one photodetecting element reaches a prescribed reference level is detected, and when this elapsed time is longer than a predetermined time, the reference level is lowered to obtain a focusing detection signal.
