Abstract

PURPOSE: To find the position of an object simply by taking in a pattern directly from a particular region of image input data, storing this pattern as a reference pattern and, while scanning the object with a photoelectric conversion scanner, determining the correlation of the two.
CONSTITUTION: A standard pattern is detected by a standard pattern detecting circuit 17 and stored in a memory circuit 18. A binary-coded image which was detected by a photoelectric conversion scanner 15 and binary-coded in a binary- coding circuit 16 is inputted to a correlator 20 via a gate circuit 19 for a pattern to be positioned. Plural correlator output signals are added to a judgement circuit 21 and a position where the correlation value becomes maximum is detected as a matching point.
