Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the detection of the position of the picture by a method wherein picture data obtained from one of an object through photoelectric conversion are made as a standard pattern, the correlation of the picture of each block obtained by dividing the pattern with the input picture from a photoelectric converter is found, and the position where the same pattern with the standard pattern is located in the input picture under a prescribed condition is detected.
CONSTITUTION: The object 5 coming on a conveyor belt 4 is detected by a photoelectric converter 6 and converted to a monochrome two-valued picture by a quantization circuit 7. On the other hand, the picture in a small region is inputted and stored as the standard pattern in a standard pattern storing part 9 through the intermediary of a standard pattern load controlling part 8. The standard pattern is divided and loaded by every block to a coincidence operating circuit 10.
