Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the manufacture of a heat exchanger by a method wherein corrugated fins, first and second inlet and outlet side connecting pipes and caps are connected to a perforated coolant pipe and the connected sections are covered with brazing metals to thereby braze the above mentioned parts to the pipe. CONSTITUTION:The corrugated fins 5, the first inlet and outlet side connecting pipes 3 and 4, the caps 6 and the second inlet and outlet side connecting pipes 7 and 8 are connected to the perforated coolant pipe 2 of the serpentine type heat exchanger. Then the substantially cylindrical brazing metal pieces 9 are arranged to cover the connected sections of the coolant pipe 2 and the first inlet and outlet side connecting pipes 3 and 4, the connected sections of the first inlet and outlet side connecting pipes and the caps 6 and the connected sections of the first inlet and outlet side connecting pipe 3 and 4 and the second inlet and outlet side connecting pipes 7 and 8, respectively, to thereby produce a heat exchanger assembly and the assembly is set within a brazing furnace so as to be heated and brazed.
