981,801. Making heat exchangers; brazing. MAXOL HEATERS Ltd. Jan. 15, 1963 [Jan. 16, 1962], No. 1631/62. Headings B3A and B3R. [Also in Division F4] In a heat exchanger in which the edge portions of fins B are brazed to tubes A<SP>1</SP>, the edge portions b of the fins are bent to form in co-operation with the tube, pockets b<SP>1</SP> which become filled with solder during the brazing operation. The joint so formed is said to resist cracking due to relative differences in expansion of the tubes and fins. The tubes may be of copper with their exposed external surfaces sheathed in lead or a lead alloy. The fins are preferably of nickel-chrome steel.
