PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic receptor with superior cleanability, durability, etc. by laminating a charge transferring layer, a charge generating layer and a protective layer on a support and specifying the ratio in capacitance between the protective layer and the charge transferring layer. CONSTITUTION:On a support 1 a charge transferring layer (CTL) 3 with charge transferring capacity and a charge generating layer (CGL) 2 are laminated by vapor deposition or other method, and on the layer 2 a protective layer 4 of resin or the like is formed. The capacitance of the layer 4 is made >=3 times the capacitance of the CTL3. Thus, the residual potential of the protective layer 4 is effectively attenuated within the time of a single process, and an electrophotographic receptor with favorable repeating characteristics, high sensitivity and superior mechanical and electrical durability is obtd.
