Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance humidity resistance, abrasion resistance, and electric chargeability of a photosensitive body by forming a surface protective layer obtained by dispersing a ceramic powder into a binder resin. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive body is formed by successively laminating the photoconductive layer 2 optionally, of a single layer or laminate structure, and the surface protective layer 3 composed essentially of the binder resin 5, such as an epoxy resin, and the ceramic powder 4, such as alpha-alumina, in an amount of 20-90wt.%, said powder 4 having a specific resistivity of, preferably, 10<6>-10<13>OMEGA.cm. If the addition amount of the powder 4 is below the lower limit of said range, residual potential rises, and if it is above its upper limit, the abrasion resistance of the layer 3 decreases, and if the specific resistivity is below the lower limit of said resistivity range, chargeability and photosensitivity becomes insufficient, and if it is above residual potential rises unfavorably. Here, the layer 2 may be given either single layer structure or laminated structure.
