Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the coupling efficiency of a photocoupling circuit by setting an optical axis determined by a used crystal in a plane vertical to the deflecting direction of a semiconductor laser oscillation light or in a plane vertical to the propagating direction of the light and coupling the semiconductor laser to an optical fiber with a spherical lens having double refraction indexes while setting the optical axis. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor laser 1 and a selfox lens 3 are coupled via a spherical lens 2 made of ruby or sapphire, an optical fiber 4 is connected to the output end of the lens 3, thereby forming a light coupling circuit. In this structure, the optical aixs C of the lens 3 having double refraction indexes is determined in a plane vertical to the deflecting direction of the oscillated light of the laser 1, or in a plane vertical to the propagating direction of the light. In this manner the coupling efficiency due to the isolated oscillation light is not remarkably deteriorated, and an inexpensive optical connector having low loss can be obtained.
