Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress heat transfer of a mold inside wall surface, and to prevent abrasion and deformation of the mold inside wall surface, by providing a lot of grooves in the casting direction on the mold inside wall surface of a continuous casing device, and forming a hardened surface layer on the mold inside wall surface provided with the grooves. CONSTITUTION:On the inside wall surface where a mold 10 contacts with a molten metal, a lot of grooves 11 are provided at a prescribed pitch as an inside wall longitudinal groove in the casting direction extending over its whole circumference, and on the mold 10 inside wall surface provided with the grooves 11, a prescribed hardened surface layer 9 is provided. Also, on the upper surface of the mold 10, a lubricating oil groove 12 is provided so as to be connected to the groove 11, and lubricating oil is supplied to the groove 11 from an oil reservoir 13. As a result, the molten metal supplied to the mold 10 contacts with a crest part 11a of the groove 11, and on the other hand, does not go into a root part 11b, and forms an air gap, therefore, the heat transfer can be suppressed effectively. Also, the surface of ingot is improved by supplying lubricating oil, and since the hardened surface layer 9 is formed, abrasion and deformation of the inside wall surface of the mold 10 provided with grooves are suppressed.
