Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the labor for charging to risers and to improve casting efficiency by solidifying an exothermic material and a heat insulating material to one body thereby forming a solid exothermic and heat insulating material. CONSTITUTION:A solid exothermic and heat insulating material consists of two layers; a solidified lower exothermic material layer 3, and an upper heat insulating material 4, and is a cylindrical molding having one or plural pieces of holes 5 opening at the top end face of the layer 4 and extending vertically roughly in parallel with the axial direction in such a way as to reach the lower layer 3. This is placed on the top surface of a riser after charging of molten metal, by which the overlapping of spraying work is eliminated, the loss during charging on the riser surface is prevented, and the working environment is improved on account of the reduced actual working hour for the operator and the reduced production amt. of dust and smoke.
