Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the production of a strip of high flatness possible through force cooling of a short time by cooling the hot strip after finish rolling quickly then passing the same through a flatness correcting machine provided with side guides and coiling the same. CONSTITUTION:The hot strip out from a hot finishing mill 1 is cooled quickly to <=500 deg.C with a cooler 2 such as spray and the flatness of the strip which is collapsed by this quick cooling is corrected with a flatness correcting machine 3 such as roller leveler, after which it is coiled on a coiler 4. In this case, side guides are installed before and behind the machine 3 to prevent snaking and biasing of the strip. In the case of using the roller leveler for the machine 3, at least one of the leveler rollers is inclined within the horizontal plane of installation or is inclined within the vertical plane of installation. In the case of using a rolling mill as the flatness correcting machine, variable crown rolls are used or a rolling mill with a roll bender is used.
