Abstract

PURPOSE:To cool the steel sheet exactly to aim temperature at required cooling rate, by employing the water nozzle of the specified inner diameter, and by specifying the face-to-face distance of the nozzle and steel sheet, and by making variable the distribution of flow rate of cooling water to each cooling zone. CONSTITUTION:In the steel sheet cooler with the laminar flow type cooling system, the inner diameter of the water spray nozzles 16, 18, is specified to 15-30mmphi, and the face-to-face distance between the water spray nozzle and the steel sheet is specified to 1.5m or less; and the water spray header is arranged over entire length of the steel sheet cooler. The steel sheet cooler is divided into plural cooling zones; and the flow rate controllers 6a-6e, 9a-9e, are installed at the middle of the branch pipe to be supplied water from the main water supply pipes 5, 8. The distribution of the flow rate to each cooling zone is made variable within a limit of the maximum amount of water supply. The thermometer 3 measures the finishing temperature of the steel sheet, and the thermometer 4 measures the coiling temperature. At the cooling zone, the steel sheet is cooled from upside and bottom by the water spray headers 7, 10. According to this method, the control range for the cooling rate is greatly extended.
