Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve the improvement in the yield of blanks and productivity by providing a width-splitting slitter between roughing mills and finishing mills and providing a coiler and uncoiler on the exit side of the slitter. CONSTITUTION:A width-splitting slitter 11 is provided in succession to a continuous casting machine 1, heating furnace 2, roughing mills 3 (consisting of a scale breaker 4, roughing stand 5 and vertical roll edger 6). A coiler 21 and uncoiler 31 are provided on the exit side of the slitter 11. The coiler 21 takes up the rough finished material having been subjected to the above-mentioned width-splitting in coil form and the uncoiler 31 rewinds the rough finished material and supplies the same to the next finishing mills 51. A heat retaining furnace 41 is provided right above the coiler 21 and uncoiler 31 to contain the width-split rough-finished materials which are standing by while other rough-finished materials are being subjected to finish rolling and retains the same at the finishing inlet roll temperature.
