Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to use an ordinal metal foil and thus obtain a low-cost, wear-resistant and endurable material by boride-processing a metal foil which can be easily bent and bored and by producing a sandblast metal out of the metal foil. CONSTITUTION:To produce a sandblast mask 6 out of a 50mu thich stainless steel foil (SUS304), the foil is punched or electrically spark-machined so as to obtain a 0.1mm. square bore and the metal foil is properly molded to suit the shape of a workpiece 8 by bending or the like. Then the stainless steel foil is placed in a mixed stream of boron trichloride and hydrogen at a temperature of 600C and for the duration of one hour and is subjected to boride processing, allowing the mixed air stream to flow continuously. When processed as stated above, the metal foil obtains a hard surface layer having a harndess of 3,500-4,000rkg/mm.<2>. The mask 6 thus obtained is clossly fitted to a workpiece glass plate 8 and bored by injecting alumina powder with a high pressure air, from a nozzle 1 thereby obtaining a material which is excellent in durable quality.
