Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce transmission loss and to achieve simultaneous transmission of a signal, by giving a wave synthesizing and branching characteristic to a star coupler in a star type information transmission network and receiving optical signals with different wavelength at each station. CONSTITUTION:Each stations S1-Sn consists an optical signal transmitter T, an optical signal receiver R, and a control section C performing the control for signal input and output, and the optical transmitter T transmits an optical signal in a predetermined wavelength with an opposing station to be transmitted to a synthesizer 1a of a star coupler. The synthesizer synthesizes waves of the optical signals with different wavelength and transmits the result to a brancher 1b of the star coupler, receives optical signals at the brancher, and the branched waves are transmitted to the optical receiver R of the objective stations S1-Sn with reception optical fibers 31-3n. The optical receiver converts the optical signals into electric signals, which are applied to the control section C.
