CONSTITUTION:On the centers of magnetic pole legs 9 and 10 and also of a yoke 11 of a U-shape iron core 8 for an electromagnetic ultrasonic probe, which is made of regular steel or electromagnetic pure iron, holes 12-14 are provided for insertion of cores 15-17 of a high-permeability material. It is possible, by doing so, to largely improve combined permeability of the iron core 8 as compared with that of a conventional iron core and to develop a magnetic field of 20k gauss required for ensuring satisfactory flaw-detecting sensitivity, and at the same time, it is also possible to reduce in size and weight to 1.4 kilograms.
