Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a device which has a simple constitution and a high durability and is adapted to making small-size, by arranging an electrooptic element, where the distribution of the refractive index in optical materials is changed by the change of an external electric field, in an optical path for scanning. CONSTITUTION:An electrooptic element where the distribution of the refractive index in optical materials is changed by the change of an external electic field is arranged in the optical path of the projection light for scanning of an object space, and the external electric field is changed to change continuously the direction of the projection light, and the object space is scanned. For example, an electrooptic element 6 consisting of LiNbO3 crystal 18 or the like is provided with interdigital electrodes 14 and 16 on two faces which face to each other with the optical axis of the crystal 18 interposed, and the external electric field of the crystal 18 is changed by changing driving frequencies of electrodes 14 and 16 to change the distribution of the refractive index in the crystal 18. The image point position of a light emitting element 2 on a face 6b of the exit of the light, which is a taper face, is changed by this change to change an optical axis O of projection as whown by the dotted ine, and thus, the projection light scans the object space.
