Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the nonlinear distortion and the S/N ratio, by providing a semiconductor laser in accordance with each television input signal and synthesizing semiconductor lasers in an optical mixer to transmit them to the receiving side after modulating the intensity of semiconductor lasers. CONSTITUTION:N-number of inputted television signals are modulated by modulators 21-2n having carrier frequencies which are different from one another and are so set that waves to be modulated do not overlap one another, and the intensity of semiconductor lasers 31-3n is modulated by RF modulated television signals respectively. Intensity modulated optical signals 8 are connected to an optical mixer 7 and are mixed in the optical region and are multiplexed. Multiplexed optical signals are taken out to optical transmission lines 4 and are converted to electric signals by photodetectors 51-5n in the receiving side and are amplified to required levels by amplifiers 61-6n and are taken out as electric outputs and are connected to a television picture receiver or the like.
