Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance at high humidity by sticking corrosion inhibitors, consisting essentially of alkylphenol, to a ferromagnetic metallic thin film. CONSTITUTION:On a nonmagnetic substrate made of a plastic film, etc., a single- layer or multilayer ferromagnetic thin film which consists essentially of 0.05- 0.5mum thickness Co, Fe, Fe and Ni, Co and Ni, Fe and Co, Fe, Ni and Co, etc., of slanting or vertical columnar crystal and also contains oxygen by 3-45 atomic percent of magnetic metal is formed under vacuum and in the presence of a small amount of oxygen gas by vapor deposition, sputtering, ion plating, etc., directly or with a nonmagnetic thin-film layer between, and corrosion inhibitors consisting essentially of alkyl phenol are used for it. As alkylphenol, an alkyl substitute of univalent phenol, e.g., O-cresol, m-cresol, P-cresol, etc., are usable. Those inhibitors are allowed to exit in contact with at least the surface of the ferromagnetic thin film and, if possible, inside or in contact with the interface of the base where the ferromagnetic thin film is formed.
