Abstract

PURPOSE: To contrive to enhance magnetic characteristic and abrasion resistance of a magnetically recording medium by a method wherein Co is made as the main component, and the specified quantity of one kind of Mo, Ta, W is made to be contained to form the ferromagnetic metal thin film.
CONSTITUTION: A plastic material of polyethylene terephthalate, polycarbonate, etc., a non-magnetic metal of aluminum, stainless steel, etc., or an inorganic material of glass, ceramic, etc., is made as the base material, and 70wt% or more of Co, and 0.1W5.0wt% of at least one kind element of Mo, Ta, W are made to be contained as the evaporation source at vacuum deposition and ion plating to form the ferromagnetic metal thin film. Accordingly the binderless type magnetically recording medium having superior magnetic characteristic and abrasion resistance can be obtained.
