Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain printed sugar-coated tablets having clear printed face not to be released readily, by subjecting sugar-coated tablets with their top coating finished to surface treatment with a high polymer compound, printing the tablets, subjecting them to gloss treatment with a powdery gloss agent containing a liquid silicone resin.
CONSTITUTION: Sugar-coated tablets with their top coating finished are subjected to surface treatment with a film-forming high polymer compound, and are printed. The tablets are then subjected to gloss treatment with a powdery gloss agent containing a liquid silicone resin, to give printed sugar-coated tablets having good printed face and improved gloss having resistance to heat and moisture. The gloss agent is obtained by blending a polishing agent solid at normal temperature such as wax, e.g., carnauba wax, higher fatty acid, higher alcohol, solid paraffine, etc. with a liquid silicone resin in a molten state, followed by cooling and granulating. Since the gloss agent is used in a powdery state, incidental facilities for maintaining operational environment and preventing atmospheric pollution are not required.
