Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture continuously and easily a desired quartz glass product of high quality by relatively moving a starting material feeding pipe and a target for deposition so as to draw a desired locus. CONSTITUTION:Crystal powder from a crystal powder storing vessel 2 and gaseous oxygen from a gaseus oxygen feeding inlet 4 are fed to a concentric doubly tubed burner 1, and hydrogen is supplied from a gaseous hydrogen supplying inlet 5 to generate an oxyhydrogen flame. The crystal powder dropping on a rotating fire resistant target 6 is converted into molten glass by the heat of the oxyhydrogen flame to form a quartz ingot 7 on the target 6. By moving the target 6 along the Y-axis and lowering it along the Z-axis every cycle, a flat platelike quartz glass product is obtd. By circularly moving the target 6 at the distance of radius (r) from Z, a tubular quartz glass product is obtd.
