Abstract

PURPOSE: A novel compound, as a starting substance, is made to react with an activated from of methanol to effect methoxy group introduction, thus producing the titled compound used as a fungicide for agricultural and horticultural purposes through simple operations in high yield in a short time.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction between a compound of formula II (X is halogen) such as S-phenyl-N-n-propyl-N-phenylthiophosphoroamide chloridate and an activated form of methanol is conducted in a solvent, preferably in the presence of an organic amine or inorganic salt to give the objective compound of formula I. The compound of formula II is novel and prepared by reaction of S-phenylthiophosphorodichloridate with N-n-propylaniline.
EFFECT: The introduction of a methoxy group at the last stage prohibits side- reactions such as demethylation characterized in organic phosphorus compounds.
