Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid a magnetic tape from being moved broadwise on a running path, by giving a slope the rotary surface of a rotating magnetic head to the running direction of a magnetic tape and forming a guide cylinder as an elliptic cylinder. CONSTITUTION:An elliptic guide cylinder 1 is provided orthogonally to a running direction of a magnetic tape 2 and the magnetic tape 2 slides on the circumference of the cylinder 1 over about 180 degrees with guide posts 3 and 3' while keeping always the same height as the upper surface of a chassis 5. A rotating disc 6 having the same diameter as a major axis of the cylinder 1 rotates around a shaft 8 with a slope from the vertical direction to the running direction of the tape 2 in the cylinder 1. Magnetic heads 7 and 7' provided on the disc 6 helical-scan the magnetic tape 2. The position of the heads 7 and 7' is minutely displaced and corrected by using a piezoelectric plate to obtain linear scanning.
