Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the effect of tip of magnetic pole at reproducing characteristics and to increase the efficiency, by eliminating the effect of magnetic film thickness on reproducing characteristics, through the use of a polishment step characteristic by different gualities of materials in polishing a surface opposing to a medium. CONSTITUTION:When different types of materials are polished at the same time, a step difference is caused between the materials. By using this phenomenon, when a head surface is polished by locating Al and Cr as a nonmagnetic substance layer 7, a polishment slope is caused with the polished step difference of the nonmagnetic substance layer at the end of magnetic pole and sudden change in a magnetic potential can be avoided. Further, a protective film 5 of a hard-polishment member is arranged at the outside of the layer 7 and the type of material of polishment resistant member is selected as a gap member 4, then the finished surface after flat polishment is shown in A. Since the distance with a medium surface at the end of magnetic pole is greater, then the change in the reproducing characteristics due to sudden change in the magnetic potential at the end of magnetic pole is less, allowing the increase the efficiency with thick magnetic film and it is not necessary to make highly accurate control for the magnetic film thickness.
