Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance of a magnetic head, by attaching non- magnetic materials such as Al2O3, SiO2, by spattering or high frequency ion plating, to a surface which slidably contacts to a medium. CONSTITUTION:Non-magnetic protection film 1 is attached in uniform thickness to a surface of a magnetic head which contacts with a medium. Magnetic head of ferrite of Mn-Zn family manufactured through a normal machine work, is laid in a sputtering apparatus. Non-magnetic materials such as Al2O3, SiO2 which have a value of Vickers hardness >=Hv 600 is used in simple substance for forming a guard membrane through a sputtering only on the surface which opposes the medium of the magnetic head. In this arrangement, drop of reproducing output is suppressed >=15% maximum if thickness of the non-magnetic material is >=1/5 of the floating quantity.
