Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain economical and high reliable working fluid taking the place of petroleum base working fluid by a method wherein a liquid mixture contg. water and high molecular glycol added with the predetermined concentration of chromate is employed as working fluid in the bumper such as automobile shock absorber or the like. CONSTITUTION:The bumper is made up, for example, of a cylinder 1, the interior of which is divided into a gas chamber 3 and a liquid chamber 4 by a free piston 2 provided within the cylinder 1. A piston 5 equipped with a damping force generating valve 6 is provided within the liquid chamber 4. A piston rod 7 is fixed to said piston 5 at its one end and protruded outside piercing a rod guide 8 arranged at the end of the cylinder 1 and a packing 9 adjoiningly attached inside the rod guide 8. Here, working fluid comprising water, chromate and high molecular liquid glycol is filled whithin said liquid chamber 4. In this case, the chromate is set in the order of 100-5,000ppm and sodium bichromate or the like is used as the chromate.
