PURPOSE:To speed search for a fault point and restoration by detecting a disconnection fault on an annular optical transmission line by a disconnection position detector and by automatically displaying an optical fiber which has the fault. CONSTITUTION:If one of optical fiber cables 1a-1g is broken during communication among optical information transmitters 6a-6e, a breaking detector 5 detects a breaking fault by the absence of signals from the optical information transmitters and sends a breaking fault detection signal to a breaking position detector 8. On receiving it, the detector 8 displays the contents of the reception state and sends a switching signal to an optical switch 3, which is closed. Thus, the state of the mutual communication among the transmitters 6a-6e disabled owing to the breaking fault of said fiber is restored to the normal state.
