Abstract
PURPOSE:To burn a char bed and an unburned part of a combustion gas in an efficient manner by a method wherein the title boiler for burning the spent liquor discharged from a pulp plant, secondary air injection ports and tertiary air injection ports are arranged in opposing wall surfaces of the boiler in asymmetrical relationships with one another, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The spent liquor combustion boiler 1 operates in the manner such that the spent liquor in rough particle form is sprayed on, and adhered to, the opposing wall surfaces of the boiler by use of oscillators 2 and the adhered spent liquor is dried by the radiation of heat in a furnace of the boiler 1. When the spent liquor is dried, a number of air bubbles are formed within the dried spent liquor to produce a porous solid component (char). Such porous solid component presently comes off from the wall surfaces one by one and falls down on the bottom of the furnace to produce a char bed 3 which is burned at the bottom of the furnace. In this case, in order for the char bed 3 to have a truncated conical configuration, the secondary air injection ports A2 are arranged in the opposing wall surfaces 1a and 1b of the boiler 1 in parallel and asymmetrical relationships with one another so that the center A2' of the injection port A2 on one of the wall surfaces does not coincide with that of the injection port on the other wall surface. Further, the tertiary air injection ports A3 are provided in the wall surfaces 1b and 1d in the same manner as in the case of the secondary injection ports A2.
