Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the combustion of low calorific gas in a combustion furnace for gas produced from a pyrolytic decomposition furnace by arranging a plurality of heat storage units in the combustion furnace and injecting a mixture of unburned gas and air toward the air gaps between the heat storage units, thereby accelerating the combustion.
CONSTITUTION: Gas produced from a melting furnace 1 as a pyrolytic decomposition furnace for melting refuse or the like is supplied through a duct 10 and a dust remover 11 via a burner 13 to a combustion furnace 12, burnt therein and exhausted through a boiler chamber 22. In this case, a plurality of heat storate units 21 formed by attaching a refractory 20 through a stud 19 mounted at a pipe 18 are arranged, for example, in a zigzag state on the periphery of the hollow pipe 18 having an air flow passage 17 at the center through the top of the combustion furnace 12.
