Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce loss of heat carried away by an exhaust gas by ejecting pulverized coal having a good combustibility from a burner closest to the outlet of a combustion furnace, and discharging a large quantity of air through air nozzles disposed in the vicinities of the burners. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of stages of burners 2a-2d disposed in an axial deviation from a combustion furnace and a plurality of air nozzles disposed in the vicinities of the burners are employed so as to burn pulverized coal ejected from the burners. At this time, pulverized coal of a good combustibility is ejected from a burner 2d closest to the outlet of the furnace, and at the same time, a large quantity of air is discharged from an air nozzle 3d. By taking such a measure as described above, the combustion at the uppermost stage of a multistage burner which requires several coal pulverizers becomes excellent, and pulverized coal which has not been burnt in a lower stage burner zone is reignited to completely burn pulverized coal. Therefore, unburnt coal contained in ashes can be reduced even if combustion air is not charged excessively. Therefore, loss of heat carried away by an exhaust gas can be reduced.
