PURPOSE:To record and reproduce information in two ways with a simple constitution, by switching the sampling frequency of an information signal and the relative speed between a head and a recording medium as required. CONSTITUTION:Sampling frequencies of A/D converting circuit 4-6 are reduced to half, and the rotation speed of a rotary drum 39 and the transfer speed of a magnetic tape 40 are reduced to half. Switches 11-14, 23-26, 45-48, and 57-60 are switched to one sides, and information is recorded and reproduced. As a result, the signal route of each part is reduced to half, and it is unnecessary that the signal is made parallel before and after processing circuits 15-22 and demodulating circuit 49-56.
