Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the calorific value of a clutch, promptly, for preventing the clutch from being overheated, by obtaining a speed difference between a cluth drive shaft and a clutch driven shaft so that a timer is actuated after the duration of a time set by the timer when the speed difference is above a reference value, for changing the coupling characteristic of the clutch. CONSTITUTION:A crank shaft speed omegai is detected by an ignition pulse detecter 40 and is delivered to an adder 43 through a D/A converter 41 and a reverser 42. Meanwhile, an input shaft speed omegao is detected by a pickup 39 and is delivered to the adder 43 through a D/A converter 45 and a resistor 46. The adder 43 operates the speed difference omegao-omegai which is delivered to a comparator 44 for comparating it with a reference value alpha. The overheat condition of the clutch is appreciated when the speed difference is above the reference value alpha, so that a timer 48 is actuated. The timer 48 delivers a signal beta to a relay 49 which turns on a switch which is not shown and which increases the load of the engine in order to cause an engine stall, thereby the clutch is prevented from being heated.
