Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce idle knocks, by detecting idle conditions, detecting the temperature of a sub-chamber, and heating the inside of the sub-chamber when an idle condition exists and further when the temperature of the sub-chamber is below a specified level. CONSTITUTION:When an idle condition is shown in fuel ejection with the transmission in the neutral condition following normal operation and further when the temperature of burbulence chamber 3 falls so that ignition delays, which is the cause of an idle knock, the switch and sensor 7 are turned on and heater 6 operates, and as a result the temperature of chamber combustion 4 is raised. When the temperature of turbulence chamber 3 rises above a specified level, sensor 7 is turned off and heater 6 is cut off. By this, the temperature of turbulence chamber 3 is maintained at a fixed level, and thereby idle knocks are reduced.
