Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the ignition timing to suit the type of fuel used, by changing the initial timing and ignition timing advancing characteristics by a fuel selecting switch in an internal combustion engine which is designed to use liquid fuel and gas fuel selectively. CONSTITUTION:At the time of using liquid fuel, a selector switch 4 is connected to a contact 7, and the ignition timing is controlled by an initial timing detecting coil 8 and an ignition timing advancing element 11. In case of using gas fuel, on the other hand, the selector switch 4 is connected to a contact 23. In this state, the ignition timing is controlled by an ignition timing advancing element 25 and an initial timing coil 24 which is advanced an angle 0 for compensating the slow combustion speed of gas fuel. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to control the ignition timing to suit the type of fuel in use.
