CONSTITUTION:A detecting unit 4 detects center electrode temperature of an ignition plug or running conditions of an engine having effect on the center electrode temperature and provides a switching unit 2 of primary current with the output through a polarity selector 5, polarity switch timing controller 6 and polarity switching unit 7. The polarity of secondary voltage of a reversible ignition coil 1 is selected by means of output from a primary current switching unit 2 in accordance with the center electrode temperature of the plug.
