Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform effective desulfurization and dephosphorization in preliminary refining of molten steel by adding the synthetic slag prepd. by adding assistants to steel making slag in a molten state and melting the same then cooling and grinding the mixture to molten iron and agitating these. CONSTITUTION:Assistants such as iron oxide, fluorite, lime, etc. are added and melted to and in steel making slab in a molten state discharged from a steel making furnace, after which the mixture is cooled and ground. The resultant synthetic slag is added under agitation to molten iron by an injection method or a mechanical agitation method, whereby the molten iron is desulfurized and dephosphorized and is thus preliminarily refined. The synthetic slag is obtained by the component control of the steel making slag, and according to experiment, the assistants are so added as to obtain T, Ca%/T, Fe%=0.5-3.0 of the synthetic slag. Further, in the stage of an injection method using an inert gas or carrier gas such as gaseous N2 or gaseous Ar or a mechanical agitation method, T.Ca%/T.Fe%=0.5-2.0 are more preferable.
