Abstract
PURPOSE:To shorten melting treatment time and to improve yield of molten iron by treating solid iron-contained cold material in an exclusive melting converter to make high carbon molten iron, remaining the necessary quantities of molten iron and molten slag to use the next melting and treating the remained quantity in a refining exclusive use converter. CONSTITUTION:The solid iron-contained cold material 8 of scrap, etc., lime stone 13 are charged into the exclusive melting converter 1 containing the seed molten metal 7 and the molten slag 12, and carbonic material, oxygen from tuyere 3 and oxygen from a lance 2 are supplied, and the scrap, etc., is carbonized and melted, while preventing spattering of iron dust with the molten slag 12.
