Abstract

PURPOSE: To add a low-cost additive easy to manufacture in a high yield by packing a tube made of the matrix metal of an alloy with an additive element having a lower m.p. than the matrix metal, forming the packed tube into a wire, and continuously put the wire into molten metal flowing from a holding furnace toward a mold.
CONSTITUTION: A tubular body 1 made of the matrix metal of an alloy is packed with powder of an additive element 2 having a lower m.p. than the matrix metal or powder of an additive element compound 2' whose m.p. is not ≥200°C above the m.p. of the matrix metal. The packed body is reduced to a prescribed size to form a wiry or rodlike all element additive 4 coated with the matrix metal. The additive 4 is drawn out from a coil spooler 3 and continuously put into molten metal 6 flowing from a holding furnace toward a mold through driving rolls 5 at a prescribed speed.
