Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the space factor of aluminum high and form an aluminum coating layer and a steel core wire perfectly in one body by first joining the aluminum coating layer and the steel core wire in one body by a metallurgical method then coating the same with aluminum with an aluminum press.
CONSTITUTION: Aluminum powder is coated on a steel core wire by a powder metallurgical method and the wire is drawn to a suitable diameter, whereby the aluminum coated steel wire of the thin coating layer is obtained. Thence, further an aluminum material is coated on this aluminum-coated steel wire with an aluminum press and and the wire is drawn to a desired diameter. In this way the thick aluminum coated copper wire is obtained, which is high in the space factor of aluminum, is provided with always stable characteristics and is formed with the joined part of the coating layer and the core wire in one body.
